Calgary Drug Bust Nets Narcotics & Weapons

Four people have been charged in connection with two drugs busts in late May, 2013, in Calgary.

After observing a suspected drug storage facility, police stopped a vehicle. The driver was found to have 228 ounces of marijauna and about $1000 in cash.

Two further suspects were arrested after the home of the driver was search. It was revealed to have $14,000 in cash, and nearly 22 kilograms of pot with an estimated street value of $220,000.

Charged is Phuc Di LY, 55-year-old. Police has detained him with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime. Additionally, the two residents of the home, Si Tan NGUYEN, 42 and Phuong Quoc Hoang LE, 32, both of Calgary, are each charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.

The culmination of a two month investigation by Calgary Police ended with further searches and seizures in southwest Calgary. Investigators seized cocaine worth approximately $1,200, a large machete, body armour, handcuffs, a gun holster, electronic scales, packaging materials and approximately $1,000 in cash.

Roberto Soto, 27, of Calgary was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.
